Shannon County Social Studies/Lakota Studies Infused Standards
In the Spring of 2008 the Oceti Sakowin Education Consortium worked with teachers from Shannon County Schools to infuse the Districts Social Studies and Lakota Studies Standards together. This work is a "work in progress". The purpose of this web-site is to allow access to the standards and to begin to create linkages for faculty in teaching the standards to students. As a result of this desire to link resources and lessons to the standards, this site will be updated annually by teams from Shannon County Schools who are continuing to work on these standards.
In addition to the standards infusion process, it became apparent that the district faculty were teaching social studies and Lakota Studies at different rates per school. A survey was conducted to determine how often students were getting access to these subjects and how these subjects were being taught.
If you have questions concerning the standards, please contact Robert Two Crow at Shannon County Schools.
